I find myself sitting on the floor while watching Ridley Scott's Kingdom of Heaven and eating the occasional homemade chocolate chip cookie.
"It's after 12 o'clock at night on a Thursday," you say. "Why start such a long movie?"
I will explain, though I do so reluctantly...
Apparently there's some big hullabaloo going on across the pond regarding a royal wedding. It also appears as though it will be available for our viewing pleasure over here in the states. Coincidentally, this happens to be the reason for my lack of sleep on this 29th of April, 2011.
I'm going to a "watch party" to partake in this momentous occasion...with a group of guys. Very manly guys at that, rest assured. There is supposed to be food...so that's my excuse for going.
However, I do enjoy the thought of being able to say that I took part in such an historical event. It's like saying that I saw the first man walk on the moon. Or I saw Kennedy get shot. Or I was the guy that discovered the dead sea scrolls. Or I listened to Justin Vernon before he retreated to his father's cabin and recorded his famous For Emma, Forever Ago album. Or I discovered Justin Bieber...oh wait...never mind. Anyways, even if the marriage doesn't last, I'll be able to say that I saw it. I hope it does though. We could all use a little happy ending...or beginning. However you look at it. And I'll be able to eat some food in the middle of the night.
It should be fun.
I just hope the priest performing the ceremony has an entertaining speech impediment, causing him to mispronounce his R's.
